Eshottheugh Animal Park is an up and coming family-run animal collection in the heart of Northumberland. The park currently has 17 acres for visitors to explore with over 50 species of animals to see.
We have come a long way in a short period of time, having gained our Zoo Licence in June 2015. We are aiming to become part of BIAZA within the next year, which is the British and Irish Association of Zoos and Aquaria. In order to achieve this, we need to prove that we have high standards in all things zoo - from animal husbandry to our education and conservation efforts.
We want to become a large attraction in the North East of England and believe that we have the ability to achieve this goal. As we grow, our conservation efforts will continue to increase and more people and students will come through our doors and be educated about wildlife.
To set high standards and excel in the husbandry of the species in which we keep providing them with the opportunity to express natural behaviours.
To appeal to a more diverse audience, enhancing the visitors involvement and inspiring conservation action.
To create an animal collection that is economically and environmentally sustainable for the long term. BUILDING BRIDGES
We aim to build on existing partnerships and identify new opportunities with other collections in order to ensure that we are all working towards the same goals.
To increase awareness, understanding and support of our animal collection and its projects as a centre for conservation and education excellence in the North East and beyond.
Our mission is to become a leader in the education and conservation of wildlife and their unique habitats, making it accessible to all whilst still providing a compelling visitor experience.
Our vision is to see a change in the perception towards wildlife and habitats which will lead to a sustainable natural world.
To increase our support for more conservation programmes including ones which we currently are involved with, both in-situ and ex-situ.
